Advantages of a Sport Pilot License

Recreational Flying

The Sport Pilot License allows you to fly light-sport aircraft for recreational purposes, opening up a world of adventure.

Medical Requirements

You can qualify with a valid U.S. driver’s license, making a Sport Pilots License accessible to more people wanting to fly.

Lower Cost

The Sport Pilot License requires fewer flight hours than a Private Pilot License, making it a more cost-effective option.

Quick Path to Flying

With only 20hrs of training hours required, you can get your Sport Pilot License in half the time of a Private Pilots License.

Training Components

  1. Ground School:

    • This part of the training covers the theoretical knowledge you need, including flight principles, navigation, weather, regulations, and aircraft systems.

    • Ground school can be completed through classroom instruction, online courses, or self-study with guidance from RT Aviation instructors.

  2. Flight Training:

    • You will need a minimum of 20 hours of flight time, which includes:

      • 15 hours of flight instruction with a certified flight instructor.

      • 5 hours of solo flight.

    • Training will cover various maneuvers, takeoffs, landings, emergency procedures, and cross-country flight operations.

    2.  Practical Exam (Checkride)

  • Conducted by an FAA-designated examiner, the practical exam includes an oral test and a flight test.
